The Green Party has announced three mental health pledges in Worcester today. Women are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders, and are also more likely to be diagnosed with other common mental health problems.

The Green Party’s total vote of 5,607 is a huge increase on 2013 when the party stood in one ward and got 297 votes. This time Greens left Labour in second place on 4,134 votes with the Lib Dems in third with 2,783.

Last Saturday 6th June, Green Party Women supported the Set Her Free protest outside Yarl's Wood detention centre. Hundreds of demonstrators attended from Bristol, London, Manchester and beyond in a spirit of anger, but also solidarity and hope. The crowds included many brave women who had at one point or another been locked up inside Yarl's Wood themselves.

Sarah Cope and Clare Phipps' request for joint candidacy submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council on Thursday 9th April was rejected today by the Electoral Returning Officer on the grounds of a job-share ban for MPs.
